"Congressman says McCain 'sowing seeds of hatred' 48 minutes ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and veteran of the civil rights movement, says the negative tone of the Republican presidential campaign reminds him of the hateful atmosphere that segregationist Gov. George Wallace fostered in Alabama in the 1960s. Republican candidate John McCain on Saturday called Lewis' remarks "shocking and beyond the pale." The Obama campaign said the Illinois senator doesn't believe McCain or his policy criticism is at all comparable to Wallace and his segregationist policies. In a statement issued Saturday, Lewis said McCain and running mate Sarah Palin were "sowing the seeds of hatred and division, and there is no need for this hostility in our political discourse." He noted that Wallace also ran for president. ..." http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iOKWLjhw3wplpT1j0L4IvISHpbGAD93OHRS00

I am amazed at how often the Obama supporters have played the race card this election; that is what is truely dispicable here. Apparently they have decided he can't run on his merits.

For the record, I disagree with Lewis. IMO, neither McCain nor Palin are racists nor are encouraging such behavior. This said, at some McCain rallies, signs of racism and paranoia are bubbling to the surface in some communities.

I find it interesting that the left who seem not to have noticed the racism that 'bubbled up' on a fairly regular basis at Obama's church, seem only to notice it now.

All I know is that fear and paranoia seem to be major motivators for some attending McCain rallies, as seen by their conduct on video. I'm not saying all (or even most) McCain backers act in such a way (as anyone can do so, regardless of political stripe), but what I've seen is not pretty.

Again, one need only spend two seconds on an Obama support site like Daily Kos, and it becomes quickly apparent that those who are primarily motivated by 'fear and paranoia' are on the left.

You don't have to search the audience to find narrow minded people in the Obama campaign, he's right on stage. - "Typical white people" are religious kooks, gun nuts and are afraid of other ethnic groups. - People should be awarded jobs and educational opportunities based in part on their skin color. Democrats still have Wallace blood in them. - He's a follower of a racist clergyman.

Let me get this straight, it is not racist or "sowing the seeds of hate" when Obama supporters threaten violence in the streets if Obama is not elected, but it is racist and "sowing the seeds of hate" for McCain and Palin to hold rallies during which some of the participants, may or may not bemaking racist statements and threats Participants whose affiliation andidentities are unknown.

While I don't think Palin and certainly not McCain are racist, I question the negativity of their campaigns as of late. I think this sort of, well, falsehoods in their claims brings out the aforementioend sort of narrow-minded people to their campaign stops - though these people are not truly representative of McCain and his ideals. And by falsehoods, I mean that the Ayers-Obama connection is largely characterized as being misleading and ridiculous. Peace and God bless, PS BTW McCain has previously held a very positive relationship with Lewis, even going so far as to include him in advisory position if McCain is elected.

I thinks the most anger sowing political ad I have seen was the ones in 2000 that referred to a black guy that got drug around by a pickup truck in chains by some white racists. The commerical inferred that if Bush was elected there would be more of that happening. So the bar is still pretty high from that 2000 ad for McCain to jump over I think.

And what about those radio ads in from the NAACP in 2004 that every time you elect a Republican another black church will burn? And what about Carville's comments that if McCain is elected, cities will burn?

And by falsehoods, I mean that the Ayers-Obama connection is largely characterized as being misleading and ridiculous. You must investigate further this assocation between William Ayers and Barak Obama. It is neither ridiculous nor false. You are not delving into that relationship enough. You are blinded by your desire to see Obama win. As a Christian, you must seek the truth. And the truth about that relationship isn't pretty. And William Ayers is one of the most radical, Anti-Christian, Anti-Americans that America has had the burden of producing. If you think pointing out the truth is "negative" so be it. Society crucified Christ, because they didn't like Him or His message. They didn't like THE TRUTH. People haven't changed.

Exactly. The seeds to the current financial fiasco was planted well in the Clinton policies in the 90's and continued on during the past 8 years, although who was it? McCain that tried to get congress to look at a pending mortgage crisis what? 3 of 4 years ago?

If McCain and Palin are "sowing the seeds of hatred" then why this exchange in a campaign stop? quote:
McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh — he's an Arab. He's not — " before McCain retook the microphone and replied: "No, ma'am. He's a decent family man [and] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]." Me thinks the congressman quoted in the OP needs to research facts before opening mouth.

ORIGINAL: Lizahana "Congressman says McCain 'sowing seeds of hatred' 48 minutes ago WASHINGTON (AP) — Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and veteran of the civil rights movement, That’s the ploy, 100% of the time, when someone tells or reveals a truth... this is the accusation you get in today’s world as = 'sowing seeds of hatred' The Dem party has chosen this path, which is as old as the hills as explained over 3000 years ago Isa 5:20 Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe to men mighty at drinking wine, Woe to men valiant for mixing intoxicating drink, 23 Who justify the wicked for a bribe, And take away justice from the righteous man! Where is that BIG CHANGE they boast about?? 24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the Lord of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. The only big change in store for this country was already put in motion by "Dem leaderships, and that is the silencing of the word of God in reflection of the principal seen in Isa 5:20…. and seen witnessed by the Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia “Democrat…. under the cover ….of the civil rights (“race”) movement Here it is broken down Big Change = For me myself and I, which is as old as the hills America First = the good of the country first, which seems to reflect a bigger change away from; me myself and I then the Dem party interpretations LG

Someone needs remind the John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat that is was fellow Democrats who were the biggest obstacles to the civil rights movement of the 60's.... The only reason John Lewis can get away with these comment is because he's black and he knows that... He's no less a bigot as anyone he points a finger at...
