Hi Karly...nice to "meet" you. I didn't realize there was a new thread so I just posted in the old. Not sure when it's appropriate to start a new thread, but honestly it's FINE with me!!! I guess because for me the old thread is a constant reminder that I haven't "graduated" yet...if that makes sense. Once again, I'm Megan and I'm 25. My DH is 40. I just bought an OPK and no O yet (but I honestly don't expect it for another day or two). We've been TTC since July as well. I haven't been temping...but I guess that seems to be the next likely step. Can a regular digital thermometer be used for this or does it need to be a specific type of thermometer? (I already asked a bunch of questions about OvuSoft and I believe we'll be downloading that soon if we aren't successful this cycle.) It does sound as though you may have some issues...maybe you just have really long cycles? Is there a definitive test for PCOS? (The research I have done goes mostly by symptoms.) Anyway, it's good to meet you. I pray success to each of you!! ~God bless~

You really need a basal body thermometer for temping and charting. Regular ones aren't really precise enough. I bought 2 while we were having trouble TTC - got one at Target and one at CVS. They both cost under $10. You can however use a BBT as a regular thermometer once you are done with it! Kris

Ryanne, thanks for the information about where to find the discussion about PCOS. I'll have to check that out here in a few. Kris, hmmmm....that does sound pretty cheap. The main difference is the preciseness?!?! Hmmmmm....I'll look into getting a BBT one then, I suppose.......

I hear you there, Karly. There are kits at Wal-Mart for around $20 that have like 40 strips or so. That MIGHT be long enough for you. We have put off the doctor visit as well. At first, we said we would wait until we had insurance. Well, we got that November 1st. I'm not sure what we're waiting on now.... I think a lot of it is that we're both VERY busy people. Currently, we both work days and it's hard to get into a doctor without missing work (esp. for me). That stinks about the period, but like you said....you know something is happening. (off topic....but)....I moved from Kansas to California in May. It's definitely been a big change...much as I imagine Colorado to New York is, huh?

Kansas is a great place to live. After all, I was born and raised there until my move to CA. Anyway, I stopped the OPK here. The test I used yesterday never showed anything up (I think it was faulty or something as there wasn't even a comparison line. The test I used on Saturday had no problems and it was the same brand, etc.). Then last night, I popped a 101-102 fever. This week SHOULD be O (probably even as soon as today or tomorrow). We're out for the month unless God sees fit to perform a miracle. That's usually how it seems to work. My son was conceived the one month I was sure he wouldn't be as my DH then and I hadn't BD'ed that much that month.

Wow...that's unusual that he doesn't want to engage more often. Your DH is 44, mine is 40. We used to only BD about once a week or so. Our schedules were just too conflicting. (He was working graveyard and I work days). Now DH is on days Karly, does your DH crash out fairly easily? I know mine does at times, but then again...we all do. You could always try to get him in the mood. As for the ovulating...I would definitely check with your doctor about that. As has been mentioned, there are ovulation predictor strips available for about $0.50 a piece. I'm not sure if that would help you, but that would give you that much more information to tell the doctor when you go to see him/her.

Well YES!! I have found you folks!!! Megan- My cycle buddy.....did you O yet? I think it will be tomorrow or Valentine's Day wouldn't that be romantic :) I am trying the OPK and temping. I am using both FF and Ovusoft. I have a free 15 day trial on Ovusoft anyone can get the free trial. I really don't know if the 15 days will work. But what I did was start recording my temps and stuff the first day and then I went for the free trail 2 days ago so I can see if it tells me if I O'd. Well I hope this is your month!!!! Oh and I start my OPK on the chart thing they give you in the box it told me to start on cd 9 and I started on cd 10 but I think I am getting more familiar with when I O Brian's wife- As for bding my DH is 32 and he does not like to BD all the time, sometimes I have to beg, yes I do!! I've bounced in and out of here, guess I'm not a regular poster and probably won't become one. But, if you do see a random post from me, here is my info: I am 32, DH is 39 Went off BC in Dec. of 2005 TTC since June of 2006 (on our 1 year anniversary) Good luck to everyone, have patience!

Well, I'm pretty sure that today is O...or perhaps tomorrow. That's based on CF since I stopped the OPK after the one test flopped and I got sick. I'm still sick and trying to recuperate. I think a Valentine's Day baby would be SO romantic!!! Kiley, we should be pretty well right on track with each other then (since your cycle is usually 26 days). Mine varies a tad...from 26 to 28 days...give or take. Anyway, I'm ready for bed so I'm getting out of here. Baby dust to y'all.

I have a question. If your temperatures show ovulation, but your OPK's do not, which do you believe? My OPK never did show ovulation, but the temperatures sure did. Plus, my "normal" luteal phase tends to be short, and it was 8 dpo that spotting started, and 9 that the real flow started. I tend to lean toward believing the chart, but then aren't the OPK's supposed to make things more clear? Just to clarify some details... I have been using the same ones from saveontests.com throughout. I use them consistently, and regularly. I wait until 4 hrs. has passed from the last time I went to the bathroom, and I tend to take them at about 4pm I have NEVER had a second line appear on the OPK strip. (well, not anything anywhere near the color of the line you are supposed to compare it to... it's more like it's almost imaginary it's so lightly colored.)

Hmm. Was your temp shift approx. when it should have been based on when your period started? Perhaps you got a bad batch of tests? Can I see your chart?
