I was once in a group of Christian men, who for some reason wanted to debate the difference between men and women. I personally was not interested in debating the obvious, but it did occur to me that the more important question is what is the difference between a boy and a man? Now I am not interested in what they can and cannot both do but in the difference in their natures, characters, souls and spirits. What is the best test of being a man?

When does a boy become a man? What seperates the man from the boy?

A man is ...

A man is not afraid to say I love you.
A man is not afraid to say sorry.
A man is a fool and knows it.

Any other ideas?

I think there is a level of selflessness. Recently, I have noticed that those I feel are healthier individuals are the ones who give the most. Out of them flows encouragement, generosity, ...etc... Its like the healthy organisms are the ones that give the most. It is probably true of being a man. His maturity is shown by his giving to others. I also asked in the "ask her" forum, what woman want more out of the men in their life. Most of them wanted more of a selfless attitude.

A man takes responsibility for himself and those entrusted to his care. (If the kids mess up, it's the man's job to fix it etc)

A man is dedicated to the health and happiness of those entrusted to him.

A man loves and follows Jesus.

A man makes a promise and keeps it. "Till death do us part" Means exactly that, no matter what the circumstances.

Men don't run away from their problems.

A man is honest to a fault. He does not play games in his relationships

A man does his best to provide for his family. (This is not saying that he can in all circumstances, but if he's able to he'll be out there busting his hump trying. If he's not able to he'll still want to be out there trying. A boy will sit at home and do nothing and not feel bad about it)

a man is not afraid or tired or bored or lazy to go after a goal(which he himself picked, whether others find it right or wrong, useful or useless) no matter how hard it is. while still staying true to his loyalties, morals, beliefs etc.

a strong man achieves that goal.

Hello terryjohn

May I give my definition of what a man is? He is a male person that has a deep abiding relationship with the Lord. He has handed his sexuality issies over the the Lord. Hence, he isn't worried about whether he is a man or not - the Lord makes him into a man.

Believe it or not, being a man has little to do how masculine a guy seems to be. So, one gets back to my definition above.

Differences between men and women? Debate that? It's one of the few ongoing amusing facets of being human. You know, God has a terrific sense of humor. He makes woman for him. Poor man has no clue as to how to figure her out. God says, "Ah, ha. I've got you where I want you now. You need me to figure her out."

Reasonble? Adam was out cold when God made Eve. He had no clue as to what God was doing, nor was he given a chance to give his oinion in her making.

Wow...just realized (again) how fortunate I am to have a "boy" with so many wonderful manly characteristics. Praise God!

I started to feel more like a man, when my father began to consult me on financial issues for which I had been trained--when he started to treat me more as another man.

Should we consider the difference between a wordly man and a Man of God and whether we have intermingled the two in some ways? Can a man be a whole creature without God? What kind of man is he without a proper understanding of God's man? After all "God created man in His own image,In the of image God He created him;male and female He created them.

"Spiritual maturity comes with the 'presence' of the 7 Spirits of God."

1) "The natural man seek not the things of the Spirit of the God .." - 1Cor 2.14.

2) "The Body (Congregation) without the Spirit is dead, faith without works is dead also" - Jas.

3) Iesous Anointed was "anointed" with the Holy Spirit - Luke 3.2-22.

4) The Rod (Iesous) of the Stem (David) of Jesse was "anointed" wiith the 7 Spirits of God - Isa 11.1-4.

Things equal to the same thing are equal to each other - Mathematics.

"Anointing of Iesous" = Holy Spirit.

"Anointing of Rod of Stem of Jesse" = 7 Spirits of God.

God has only revealed this to men since 1990. For over 1900 years this truth was hidden. God expects us to do great works with this knowledge.

OK, her is a few: A man excepts responsibility for his actions and leans on God for support in dealing with any and all consequences. A man serves his fellow man. A man is incomplete without his saviors grace and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
