I don’t think movies have to be “Christian” to move us to ponder theological issues. In fact, Christian movies offer us our own Christian point of view. They are marketed as Christian and most likely will attract a Christian audience. This audience will see the movie and make their decision as to how closely it comes to their interpretation of Christian values. Non-Christians probably won’t see it. The movie maker may have inspired Christians, but they probably didn’t bring any non-believer closer to a relationship with God.
On the other hand, movies that struggle with questions that transcend both Christian and secular labels are seen by many. Each person will see something different based on their life experience. These transcendent issues are our commonality with non-Christians. It is where we collide. Christians will make an impact on society when our discerning voices are overheard discussing popular movies and culture. When we struggle with the rest of humanity on transcendent issues, our faith, knowledge and actions will be examined and hopefully seen as the Truth, the Way, and the Life.

it is where we have the opportunity to discuss those ideas and intoduce the Truth, which is only in christ

Sorry, but that's ridiculous to say any truth found would be incidental. There is so much truth to be found in so many "secular" movies - it's everywhere. I mean, if you're talking about Spiderman or something then forget about it, but really, truth and beauty transcend labels like "Christian" or "non-Christian". Truth is all around us and all truth is God's truth no matter where you find it.

"Holy Man" is a movie that may cause one to reflect on the Materialism of our society, and "Bruce Almighty" certainly has many spiritual references, not the least of which is the Sovereignty of God.I'm sure there are many more examples, but these come to mind.

Ironically, I saw a movie that kinda addressed this question. Its "The Time Changers" by Rich Christiano (you can get it on NetFlix). In the movie, this Christian seminary professor just wrote a book that promoted good moral values, but took all that "Christian" stuff out of the discussion, hoping to reach out to a wider secular audience. The whole movie was about what the consequences of that would be.
Most memorable line: The devil doesn't care if you practice good morals or bad, just so long as you leave Christ out of your life.
I'd have to agree with the movie's premise. Nobody gets saved without turning face to face to Christ. So a movie that avoids any direct part of the Gospel, but just has vague "spiritual" references, likely doen't help anyone.

however, "christian impact" is not the same as "filmic tract" (of which "the time changers" is a perfect example) -- isn't the OP asking whether or not G-d (the holy spirit) can use movies to speak to the Truth? isn't it possible for him to draw non-christians to himself through any number of movies? in fact, several of my friends were impacted by and drawn to christ while watching "non-christian" films. further, and even better, movies are opportunities for discussion, as and such, can provide wonderful opportunities for discussing Truth with your friendly neighbourhood pagan -- after all, G-d uses us as co-workers in the process [of salvation] doesn't he? ultimately, a movie can't save people, only G-d can. a movie can be a tool or a pointer, and we can be part of that.

Just in the past week or so, my wife and I watched the movie "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed". It was done by Ben Stein (Jewish, in case you weren't paying attention) and it dealt with how academic and scientific America deals with people who bring up the topic of Intelligent Design. It is a good movie to watch with the family, and it is also a good movie to recommend to non-believers who are skeptical of "Christian" beliefs.
The movie does not endorse either side of evolution vs. Creation, but it does do a good job of fairly presenting the lack of discussion on the topics at hand. It is one of the most important movies made in 2008. I dare you to watch it and disagree with me.
