I'm going to try it. I've got some "regular" cider vinegar in the cabinet. If I can halfway stand that, I'll look for the unpasteurized stuff. Define 'regular' cider vinegar. There are many different sorts and some has stuff added to it, which I'm sure will affect the taste. I love quite a few different pickled foods (I noticed you said that too) and I bought apple cider vinegar which didn't have anything else added (can't remember if it was organic or not, but I think it was). I can drink it neat, but it does taste better with something (apple juice, water and honey etc). And you can also use it as a dressing ~ like a salad dressing ~ you'll still reap benefits from it.

ORIGINAL: BeckeyZ You're not drinking it straight, are you Tricia? No way. I tried some ACV in a coffee cup with about a tbsp of honey and warm water. Blech! I diluted it to a 16 ounce glass - still couldn't down most of it. I would drink a couple swallows, then do something else, then come back to it. On the last attempt I felt myself start to gag. (I gag on foods I can't stand - watermelon, fried bananas...) I may try some in some juice (apple) later, but not right now. I don't have any compatible teas - all I have is black, mint, chamomile, and raspberry, and I can't see putting vinegar in any of those - so it'll be the juice attempt next.

It doesn't say anything else on it (except 5% whateverkindof acid). As far as I can tell, it's real cider vinegar, not that white vinegar with junk added. I think.

Try the Bragg's brand of vinegar. (I just bought another gallon of it tonight.) Anything you get in a regular grocery store is probably not the raw kind with the mother, which is not as "sharp" tasting. And one juice that I have found that goes well with it is the dark purple grape juice.

Okay - I read the first seven pages and then skipped to the end here. I have a few questions. Do you think drinking vinegar would help Fibromyalgia? Also, I am a little confused. Sounds like the vinegar on the grocery shelves is NOT what I should buy. I know where a health food store is. Should I go there? And what should I ask for? How do I find "local" honey? Does that mean the honey in the grocery store won't do any good? I also take Nexium, but the cost is extremely high and I don't have medical insurance. Do you all really think I can replace Nexium with a vinegar drink? Wonder if it would hinder any of my other meds from being absorbed - like hypertension and thyroid meds? I take them first thing in the morning. I think I need someone to tell me EXACTLY what to buy and how to make it so that I don't make myself sicker. Thanks!!

I, and others in this thread, recommend Braggs all natural, organic, unfiltered, apple cider vinegar. Every health store that I have been in has it. HERE is a link. quote:

I don't use honey, but I think the idea is that allergy problems can be helped by local honey, which I believe means honey made by local bees. I sometimes see people selling it out of their homes or by the side of the road. Your health foof store may be able to help. quote:

Hey Tricia--Hang in there! I think the ACV in apple juice is quite good--especially the unfiltered organic apple juice. I've been drinking ACV in the Lipton's Green Tea for awhile now and it is deeee-licious! Someone in this thread gave me the idea for that. (Kerrlaw maybe?) I think I'll try the grape juice now that Mona recommended it. (And everyone should get Bragg's or the equivalent organic variety if available, not the Heinz or generic brands.)

What I've been doing (not every day, though) is putting some ACV in a glass of juice (a grape juice punch, but 100% juice), downing that in one long guzzle, rinsing the glass, and sipping another glass of the grape juice. Downing it in one long guzzle helps my taste buds not care so much, I think. And the juice really cuts the taste of the vinegar. I will be looking for better vinegar, possibly this week. We'll see.

Heloo to all! My name is Yan from Singapore. Been reading this thread anonymously for a month now and now I'm posting here! Before this, I have been having frequent gastric, acid reflux and all that stuff. I used to take antacids all the time. My body started to have gastric 6 years ago...i do smoke. I used to be energetic and fit..i can eat spicy stuff, coffee, tea.... but after the gastric and all that stuff came in....my life has been pretty bad.... i lost weight and I always have trouble eating or swallowing food. sometimes took me 30mins to finish a meal....the gas in my stomach always made me hard to breathe sometimes....and it will only go away after constant burping....i felt embarrass all the time.... i was down again... one year ago, little red itchy spots started to appear on my chest and back....i was down again cos it wouldnt go away.... my right shoulder blades always hurt... went to see the doc...but doc told me i'm fine...and gave me antacids and painkillers....pfft... so i searched for alternatives and found this forum.... i tried acv by braggs....it does help reduce the acid reflux and helps the burping... but if i gonna use it on the rash, will it be fine?? i took acv in the morning afternoon and at night.... sometimes with baking soda and sometimes just 2 teaspoons with water... i love spicy food and coffee....but after consuming i will get heartburn and all that stuff...lol advise me on the correct dosage for acv??? what should i avoid eating or drinking?? i'm still a newbie to acv....but it gave me good results sometimes... help me.... in all, just wanna say thank you very much to all of you for making my life back on track.... god bless!

They have ACV tablets out there...you'd have to look in the dieting section, but I know even Wally has these...might make it easier on ya!!!

Yeah...I have wondered the same thing, but I suppose it would be worth a try, especially if someone couldn't get the regular ACV down...my hubby is one of those; no matter how much it's laced, he just can't get much down; he wants to see if the pills will help at all.

Try 2 table spoons of honey with 1 table sp of ACV in a cup water. The honey should be from your local area (within 20-40 miles). If you suffer with allergies, the local honey with ACV seems to help reduce the number of suffering onsets. Make sure the water is warm enough to melt the honey and just sip it like coffee.

Aloha! Wow, this is the longest thread ever! I actually took several hours out of each day to read through it. I've been taking ACV for about a month and a half now, to try and help lower my cholesterol and HBP. Not sure if this is helping, as I also take meds for the heart and my BP. I will say that after taking it for a few days, my acid reflux disappeared and I lost 10 pounds right off the bat. I must note that I did change my diet as well, but I believe the ACV has to be at least somewhat responsible. In regards to why we should be taking the unfiltered, organic type vinegars, the numerous websites I have searched basically states that the Organic type contains all the essential vitamins, and some minerals, that would stimulate the numerous benefits that so many people swear by. However, I haven't seen much in actual studies, as opposed to testimonials. Not to say that it discredits the benefits, but if all it's claims were true, and everyone started to actually use it, the mortality rate would drop drastically. (I believe I have one link to a M.D within the AMA that promotes it's usage). I would like to believe the claim that it actually clears blocked arteries, as well as strengthening the heart, as I am taking this post heart attack at the age of 36. My standard usage of ACV is to take at least 2 tbsp to a tea cup of warm water, with 1 tsp of 90 hu cayenne powder, at least 3, sometimes more times a day. The cayenne is another herb that is supposed to be very good in lowering blood pressure, dissolving blockages, and stimulating oxygen to the heart. Just be careful when using though. I started having bad stomach aches when my dosages of cayenne was increased to 1 1/2 teaspoons per cup. Anyway, to date, I have lost roughly 30 pounds, and my skin seems to have softened while using ACV. I would encourage anyone to give it a try. Really, there isn't much to be lost.
