Sometimes I dilute mine in water, other times in fruit juice. I really like it in the dark purple grape juice. It won't hurt your throat/liver to take it straight.

So a friend of mine on the Internet told me about drinking vinegar a couple weeks ago after I complained of an earache and a cold. I haven't tried it yet because I am in Costa Rica studying abroad and I go home in 2 weeks. I feel that it would be a waste of money to buy vinegar when I would have to leave it here in two weeks. Today, I thought about this crazy vinegar idea after being in pain for 2 days straight. It hurts to take deep breaths, cough, or laugh. I have a dull stomach pain and when I take the deep breaths or cough it hurts up by my left shoulder area. So, I decided to read up on drinking vinegar. (My fiancé thinks that I am just experiencing anxiety and homesickness). So, after reading 9 pages (I was convinced on page 2), I am going to return home and start drinking vinegar =) When I first told my fiancé this today he told me how crazy I was and how I need to be careful because it is bad for my kidneys and so on. I kept insisting to him that it would be fine and I give him the link to this website. We are going to start eating the organic local honey, and organic local maple syrup. We have a place close by that makes their own syrup. We have already started eating healthy, but we are ready to take it to the next step. When I get home and start this vinegar stuff, I will keep you guys updated on my progress!

Boy, am I happy I happened upon this thread. I have blood sugar problems and have been feeling really bad since going off one of my meds.. It was really weird the other day the thought just popped into my head out of nowhere to drink some vinegar. I thought who in the world would drink vinegar. I guess God was trying to tell me something, because I surely wouldn't have thought about drinking vinegar on my own. I would never have guessed it could be beneficial for you. Then today I find all this information about drinking vinegar in this thread, go figure.

So... After posting my response, can you believe that I read all 30 pages in one day!? I actually convinced my fiancé to jump onto the bandwagon, and since he is at home he has access to the ACV. He didn't experience any nausea , but he did say that it burned going down . He said he felt like taking a swig of whiskey or something. All we have at home is the Heinz version of the ACV. I might look for the organic stuff once I finally get home and settled down. I've been gone for 3 months now. After gaining 45-50 pounds in the last 3 years, I am ready to try this out!

ORIGINAL: bzirk My husband had to give up his "purple pill" for reflux when our insurance changed and it was no longer covered. That pill is $100 a month, so my husband set out to find an alternative. Cider vinegar was the answer. Eventually, he quit drinking diet sodas, and his reflux went away altogther. But months before he did that, he took cider vinegar to keep reflux from occurring. May I ask how your husband used the vinegar (straight/diluted & amount)? A friend at church insisted that he no longer needs Rx for reflux after taking a daily dose of 2 tablespoons. Tried that, but it's a little difficult to get used to straight. It would be great to be able to drink more "real" coffee! My gastroenterologist told me that in addition to citric acid, caffeine & nicotine are huge aggravators, so I allow myself only one mug of real coffee a day - the rest is decaf

The best way to get it down is to dilute it with something else. You also need to rinse and brush your teeth afterwards since the acid will ruin your teeth.

You can also swish your mouth with baking soda & water mixture to help neutralize the "acid" Or, you can use a straw to drink the vinegar -- sending it directly down your throat. I tried taking Apple Cider Vinegar daily (tablespoon in water) 2-3 times a day. For some reason my joints started hurting more instead of doing the opposite (stop hurting). Actually, I really noticed, not exactly aching, but more like stinging in my finger joints. I stopped taking the ACV and the stinging went away in a couple of days. It's a mystery to me :)

If I sweeten my (organic) coffee, I like to use a little blackstrap molasses. It's so high in minerals, and gives a very interesting flavor.

I'm way late to this thread. I suffer from cluster headaches that strike early in the mornings, waking me with the incredible pain. About a week ago I started drinking ACV twice a day. Since beginning the ACV I have been headache free. I haven't gone this many nights in a row without a headache in 5 or 6 years so I don't think it is a coincidence. I wish I had read this thread when I first noticed it a year or so ago.

stamper_ben, you just described what many of my mornings are like, cluster headaches that wake me up. I had never seen this thread before and I have been on this site for several years. So I have used pickle juice (and plain yellow mustard) as a relief for RLS and leg cramps. I abhor the smell of straight vinegar and I have a strong gag reflex, so straight is not an answer. Yeah, I know, I can down a tablespoon of straight yellow mustard and drink pickle juice but not vinegar - it is what it is. So what is the best thing to dissolve the vinegar in? Wine? Kool-Aid? Something else? I am not looking for a "total health" answer so stuff with sugar is perfectly fine. I am looking for headache relief. What is the best vinegar/product to use? Any suggestions?
