Neuron, I'm using Braggs organic raw apple cider vinegar. I got it at Whole Foods. About two teaspoons in a cup of water morning and evening. The vinegar taste isn't bad and there's a slight apple aftertaste. It's said you could add a bit of raw honey too the mix but I haven't done that yet. And of course the more water you dilute the ACV in the less vinegar taste you will have.

Like my doc said, aside from having to take care of your teeth a bit better it can't hurt can it? And if it helps so much the better!

BTW, I have been using oxygen for years now to abort the headaches, so I've been suffering teh pain mostly for a short amount of time each occurrence rather than the hour or so the pain can last normally. But if I don't get woken up with the headache at all I'll swallow the bitter taste of the vinegar in a heartbeat.

Cranky, I have gotten rid of MSG, red wines and some whites, certain chocolates among other stuff and still got the clusters. I'm just really hoping that finally there is something that is the answer and that these headaches are not just in a period of remission.

Just an clarification FYI for anyone interested: apple cider vinegar is safe for humans to ingest; white vinegar is very injurious to a person's system (over time). Most "mainstream" pickles and mustards are made with white vinegar.

There are some "natural" companies that are starting to use apple cider vinegar for their pickles and mustards. I would encourage y'all to do your research regarding which brands use white vinegar and which brands use apple cider vinegar.

*~*~*~*~*
Neuron and Ben, I'll say some prayers for both of y'all regarding the headaches.

And make sure you don't buy the apple cider FLAVORED vinegar. I think the brand is Heinz. It's not ACV, but white vinegar with flavorings.

I've put ACV in grape juice or kool-aid. It gives the juice a "bite".

Pickle juice for RLS??? may have to try that!! It's gotten bad lately.

Ben , it would be awesome to have your clusters gone!

I tried Bragg's and maybe I'm one of those bodies who really doesn't tolerate it because I got awful heartburn and no benefit. So I don't drink for health. I do use it in other things tho and it's ok in salad dressings and such. Doesn't bother me.

Ok, taking an O/T sidestep for this post.

Pickle juice for RLS??? may have to try that!! It's gotten bad lately.

I was listening to a local (and odd) radio program with random callers. One of them mentioned the mustard trick for knocking out that horrific leg cramp that some people get during the night or early morning. Someone else mentioned the pickle juice and my mother told me that is what she uses.

So I get these horrific leg cramps often. And when I get them, they often leave bruises at the spot of the cramp. Yes, the muscle cramps that hard. Taking a couple teaspoons of straight yellow mustard shortens the time of the cramp. If I have pickle juice I try that as well. I don't always have it available though.

I have found a couple things that also help stem them off. I take a magnesium supplement every night. That seems to work really well and has lessened the frequency of leg cramps from several per week to 1 or 2 per month. I added a muscle/joint supplement as well.

Another thing is a homeopathic remedy you can buy at Walgreens/CVS/whatever is something simply called "Leg Cramps". I know of no other name for it. That is what it says on the bottle. This stuff really works well (I think it has a trace amount of quinine).

I have used the ACV trick to get rid of cold symptoms, but I use it for a different purpose. I get sick every year, once a year, at a different time. I get a very very clogged throat when I wake up, but thankfully it only lasts 1-2 days. So whenever I wake up, I take a mix of water and ACV, as strong as I can take it(normally a few teaspoons to a half a shotglass in a 16 oz cup) and while I do my morning rituals I sip on it. It tends to cut through the muck and such and I feel better.

To remedy a cold, for the last few years, when I start to get sick, I take 2 shots of brandy right before bed, and I sleep with an extra cover. This was the remedy of an old friend of mine, and it works for me. I know it doesn't for everyone, but it does for me.

There are a few posts on the first page or so of this thread. Here's one:

I'm isaacsmom's mom (see post #4 above).

It's not just any vinegar, either. It's raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with the "mother" in the bottle. There are a few brands, usually available at the health food store. It's rich in potassium and enzymes that are vital down to the cellular level. According to my dr. some of the benefits are:

promotes digestion
helps reduce blood pressure
helps eliminate intestinal bugs
helps maintain proper cell hydration
helps dissolve arterial plaque
relieves kidney and bladder problems
strengthens teh heart
reduces fatigue
reduces stiffness
increases energy
helps maintain regularity
helps control appetite

Every day, I fill my insulated 64 oz. mug with water, 1/4 c. vinegar, and a little stevia.

Rotfl I can't tell you if it is that bad, but I do not have a problem in a store check out line!

The reason why I use gluttony is because I totally just love garlic and can eat hoardes of it that it probably wreaks from my pores.

Anyhow on the benefit side, ACV, garlic, and honey is suppose to support weight loss as well as many other good things.

So THAT is how I keep my trim figure with all the ramen I eat...GARLIC
I used to down 3-4 packs of ramen a day, with about half a bulb worth of garlic on them(total, not each)
I actually wish I had an easier time to gain weight(yea, I know, I hear the groans already! ) But It can be a Huge fight for me to gain 10 pounds, but loosing it means nothing.(I have had weight problems for years, with my metabolism, and getting to a stable weight has been painful)

I have to watch way too many factors of my diet, plan means weeks ahead, and such, or, spend the extra cash, and take supplements to fix what I am lacking.(getting Iron used to be a pain, especially when I was getting foodbank assistance, since we get 1-2 pieces of meat for a month, and meat was normally the expensive thing. Hotdogs are cheap, and woderous!)

A while back I had a wonderful report that the cluster headaches had stopped after taking up vinegar. Sadly, the headaches are back now for over a month. I had so hoped that I found a relief...

Oh I'm so sorry about that! Clusters are horrid. (I'm laughing at myself because I said the same thing a few posts back...clusters really are horrid! )

Have you ever heard of Sinus Buster? I use it regularly for my allergies and to keep my sinuses clean. Some people with cluster headaches find great relief while using it.

I have been wondering if they are in any way related to the sinuses. I'll look into that now. Thanks Cranky!

There's a Sinus Buster and a Headache Buster in addition to an Allergy Buster. I guess I'll have to experiment a bit to see what will work best.

I used to order online, but then I found that our local Walgreens carries it.

Let me know when you try it. It's a rather explosive and exhilarating experience!
