I had a very busy weekend! I saw Triumphant on Thursday night in Woodstock. GA. They did a wonderful job of tailoring their program to the audience, which was a seniors group. They did a number of old songs including going into the audience for Daddy Sang Bass, Momma Sang Tenor - which is always fun with the audience participation!

I saw Triumphant, New Ground, Dixie Echoes, and Josh Garner on Friday in Cullman, AL. It was great having Josh as the emcee and seeing him filling in for New Ground baritone Dale Maxwell. They sounded great with Josh - even when he sang bass when Dale came on to sing the Spelling Song. Triumphant performed very well, especially since this was Eric's home-town area crowd! The Dixie Echoes were also in fine voice and I like Pat Barker (bass) more every time I hear him!

On Saturday, I saw The Chuck Wagon Gang in Gainesville, GA. They have such an easy listening style and I really enjoy them. Alto Penny Greene wasn't feeling her best (sinus issues!) but she sang well. I enjoyed talking with all of the group members after the concert.

On Sunday night, I saw The Old Paths. They continue to get better and better! It was an excellent service!

I'll try to get some longer reviews and some videos posted this weekend about these and other concerts I have been able to attend.

What's up with Dale? I thought he was better!

Tonight I went to Cheatham Hill Baptist to see The Perrys.
Also there was Dinana, Bobby and Carol York and the "Midnight Grannies".
It was also good to see Mark Fuller. I didn't get to talk to him, but Eva Mae wasn't with him.

The Perrys never disappoint, and I'm always amazed at how much Joseph has matured and improved.

Nick is managing to 'hold it together' until he gets married next weekend.

Their new piano player, Brian Elliot is also terrific. I think he's almost as much fun to watch as Jerry Kelso.

This was the third time I've seen the Perrys at Cheatham Hill, but tonight was the first time Tracy did the chainsaw there.

Dinana shot some video, and I'm sure she'll post when she has time.

Mark Fuller stopped by Lake Lanier Islands Thanksgiving night. He said Eva Mae is still not doing well. Continued prayers are still needed for her. Been several months that she has been under the weather.

It was good to see so many people at The Perrys concert last night from different areas. Good to see Jim, Dinana there as well as Donald Boyd and a lot of his family from LaGrange. Think they might have come up to see Brian Elliott the piano player for the Perrys. Brian is from LaGrange. Donald has a sg radio program in LaGrange and is at Hoofers all the time. Saw a couple of guys that I used to work with there also. Perrys did an outstanding job. Maybe when Dinana gets caught up she'll have a few videos posted for everyone. We got their three pack special last night and was surprised that we didn't already have at least one of the cds.
If any of you are in the Dalton, GA area tonight they will be singing there. Then they are gonna take off. Nick will be married when they return to the road. Congratulations Nick and Jessica.

Congratulations, Nick and Jessica!

I believe they're actually going back on the road before Nick's back from his honeymoon—I saw them about two weeks ago, and Nick indicated that Troy Peach would be filling in on baritone while he was out. It could be just one weekend, or two, don't know.

GV did an AWESOME job as well as the Crist Family and host group Total Praise did a good job as well. I love Jacob!!!!! He is a perfect fit!!!!! And what a great guy!!!

I may write more when I feel better but right now I'm heading back to bed.

DeeAnn - I'm so jealous that you got to see the Crist Family. They're wonderful!

I enjoyed the Perrys concert last night, too. I particularly enjoyed Holy Shore and The Potter Knows the Clay. Tracy did his chainsaw imitation for us, too! The local choir did a good job with the Perrys on I Rest my Case at the Cross.

I spoke to Mark Fuller about Eva Mae and we need to continue to remember her in prayer. She's still in "rehab" and needs 24-hour care so she isn't able to go home right now. I sure do miss seeing her at our local concerts.

I have not been online much since last weekend. I wanted to jot down a quick report about last weekend (21st/22nd). Friday evening, I heard the Whisnants down in Shipshewana, IN at the Blue Gate Theatre. It was an awesome concert! There was not a very large audience, but the Holy Spirit was there. There sang a lot of music, including a few Christmas numbers. Saturday night I drove about 3 miles round-trip to hear Brian Free and Assurance. WOW! They were incredible! I had not heard them in quite some time, but I will certainly be checking out their schedule more closely in the future. They were also not too far away that Sunday afternoon. Had I not needed to be at choir practice, I would have gone to hear them again.

I saw Tennessee Harmony tonight at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga. HPBC is starting to get more active in bringing Southern Gospel to Chattanooga. This is their 4th concert since mid May. I really appreciate them.

Tennessee Harmony was great as usual. They are a weekend warrior type group but have had three charted songs recently. Rocky who sings lead for them wrote at least 2 and maybe all three of those songs. All three of those: That's A Fact, Jesus Will Fix It For You, and Jesus, What A Savior You Are were included in tonight's concert. along with several old standards and a couple of Christmas songs. But my favorite part of the concert was near the end when they did a 7 song acapella medley that included: Thank You, Lord, I need Thee,Haven of Rest, How Beautiful Heaven Must Be, Beaulah Land, Oh How I love Jesus, & What A Day That Will Be It was awesome!

Had a great time and only 20 minutes from home!

I rate it 8 Hoppies!

I attended my first Tribute Qt. last night and really enjoyed them. They sang songs from both of their Cd's and some Christmas songs as well. The ones that really stick out to me was Away In A Manger sung by Brian Alvey and also The Goodman song Who Am I , Brian also did it . I was really impressed with Brian and his pleasing to the ear voice. The group did really well and I look foward to seeing them again.

Brian does have a really nice voice. I can't wait till Tribute gets a CD out with his voice on it. (Not that I have anything against Jacob Kitson. I think Jacob is one of the five best tenors in SG right now! Just looking forward to a CD with the current lineup...)

I agree with you, Daniel. Brian has a great voice and sounds terrific with Tribute. I'm sorry I couldn't make it over to Alabama on Sunday.

Saturday night was with New Ground in Centre, Al. Dale was back with them and he did a great job. Robbie was getting sick, said she was coming down with the ole crud, and David was beginning to get sick as well, but they all did a great job. The spirit was flowing all through-out the service, and 1 person got saved before the singing was over. It was simply put a great night of worship, with fun and comedy mixed in. During intermission, to give them a break, Robbie volunteered me to sing a song, and like them I have the crud, but God touched all of us that night and allowed us to do our service unto him. I believe New Ground just gets better each time I see them!!!

WOW!! The Ball Brothers/Roy Webb Christmas concert was fabulous last night!!! Wish you all could've been there.

They had the stage decorated with a Christmas tree, had colored lights that alternated during the singing (which really messed with my videos!), and they had smoke and even snow! They also used the overhead screens with different pictures, etc. The program alternated between singing and piano playing with just the right mix, and Roy did play for all but of their non a-capella songs except Blue Christmas. (You've gotta see the show for more details than that!!) Of course, Roy was a hoot with his comedy. Vera and I sang short solos along with 4 other people and the Ball Brothers on a special, fun song. Vera got to sing more than me (thank goodness!) and I messed up my words once, but it was a lot of fun. Here is some of what they sang/played:

Ball Brothers:
Go Tell It On the Mountain
Mary Was the First One (to Carry the Gospel)
Glory to God in the Highest
Let It Snow
Blue Christmas
several carols - alone and with the audience
I'm Already Living Forever

Roy:
Agnus Dei
Oh Happy Day
Have a Little Talk with Jesus
Silver Bells
Oh Holy Night (with Gerald Wolfe doing some vocals!!)

I don't know if any of the videos are going to be good enough to post. The lights really caused havoc with my camcorder and it was a little too dark, especially for Roy.
