Hi - I'm Kris. I have a 6 year old DD. I homeschooled her for Kindergarten last year and looking forward to 1st grade this year. It's been a really positive experience. We're going to do more field trips this year, which should be lots of fun. I haven't used a set curriculum yet, but will probably do so after this year or the next.

I am a homeschooling dad. My wife and I have 6 children, and we've been homeschooling for ~14 years now - wouldn't want it any other way. Of course she does most of the day-to-day homeschooling. My part is support, helping solve problems, and teaching the upper level math, science, logic, and computer stuff.

Actually we've been part of this forum in the past and found it helpful. Just making sure we are still connected since our email address changed. My oldest child is now moving on to college - how time flies!

Looking forward to contributing.

Hi! My name is Lisa. I've been married to my husband Andre, for 13 years. We live in Ohio and homeschool our two children. My son is 9. My daughter is almost 12. We're beginning our fifth year of homeschooling. It's been an awesome journey so far. I'm SO thankful to God for calling us to homeschool and for giving me the wisdom and patience I need. Admittedly, things have not always gone smoothly, but with the Lord's help we keep going.

I recently discovered Charlotte Mason and am excited to begin implementing much of her philosophy of homeschooling this year. We've always used an ecclectic mix of curricula. This year, we'll continue to do that. One of my favorite curriculum is Mystery of History. We're on Volume one about 1/4 of the way through. I plan to use this for history for many years to come.

Blessings to all!

This is my 13th year of homeschooling. My oldest is in the last year of college and we are still schooling 3 teenagers.

To encourage others, my oldest had no problems adjusting to college and has made exceptional grades throughout. I asked if there were any regrets about homeschooling and was told no and he expects to homeschool his kids.

Hello! My name is Caryn and we are brand new to homeschooling. I have a 3yod who will be 4 in December, so we're doing pre-k. Well, preparing to start in the next few weeks! We still have a lot of trial and error to work through, but I'm excited...

I'm Laticia Wilkerson. I live in Maryland. I am a beginning homeschooler and will be starting school as soon as all my curriculum gets in (hoping to start early next week). I'm homeschooling my daughter Robyn, 6. She'll be starting first grade this year. I also have a two year old -- he'll be three in October. My step daughter lives with us full time. She will continue in Public School because of ex wife (birth mom) issues and because we feel shes too far along in the system to take her out. However, she's heard about some of the projects that Robyn is going to be doing and is really jealous...

Hi all, We're Diane and Jim Tavegia and we home school our 10 1/2 year old. We adopted Nick, legally, as an infant from our daughter. We tried the State Funded Pre-K for a couple of months and were quite disappointed with what they were to 'learn'. Nick was already reading.

We withdrew him from Pre-K and began home schooling right away. He's in 5th grade this year and it's been a joy. Since we live in one of the worst areas of one of the worst states educationally wise, Nick is well ahead of his peers.

We use BJUPress materials and supplement with a certified / accredited music teacher for Home School Band.

God willing, Nick will never enter the public school system!

Hello, I just moved away from my local support group and as far as I know there is none where I live now.

I have 4 children, the oldest is 10 and I've been doing this since the beginning and love it! 10, 9, 8 and 3 years old.

Hello,
I have 2 sons (4 and 3 years old) and 1 daughter (1 year old). I am new to homeschooling as my state does not require that my oldest be in school just yet. I had thought of homeschooling a few months back but then put it to the side as I figured I would need a break from my kids. But my husband raised the subject again after talking to our small group leaders who happen to homeschool too. After praying about it, I got my answer. The Lord has really laid it on my heart to homeschool so I have been reading and learning lots.

Fritz,

Hi! This is Celeste. I just wanted to update my information with you for the group. I've moved to GA. Do you need my address, etc. for HSLDA purposes or anything? My email has changed also. I updated my profile, but wasn't sure if you needed it. Let me know & tell me where to send it to...

thanks!
Blessings!

Hi, everyone I am so very happy to find this wonderful meeting place. My husband and I home educate our 5 children, currently ages 6-14. I am a somewhat relaxed homeschool teacher. We need room for some spontaneity in our day while also having structure. We enjoy new ideas and hope to share some of those things that have been helpful to us.

Our interests include many church activities, reading quality books, games (computer, board, card, etc.), exploring the out doors, nature, cooking, pen pals, activities with our HS support group, friends / family, and many other things.

I am challenged by the chronic illness fibromyalgia. I want to do so much more with my kids than time and energy allow.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know you.

Many blessings,

fmo5kittens

I'm Andrea. I'm a 30yo single Christian mom in Miami, in my 3rd year of homeschooling my little boy, who is about to turn 8. He is both gifted (IQ of over 150, 2 years ahead of peer-level in math, 3 years ahead in reading) and developmentally disabled: Asperger's Syndrome, dyslexia/dysgraphia, large and fine motor skill delays, sensory integration issues, and lots of energy. ;) It sure hasn't always been easy, but we love homeschooling and praise God that we've been given the opportunity to do so, even though I am a single parent.

Glad to be here! And now I'm off to sign up for that newsletter...

Hi,

My name is Lee and together with my husband George and son Pierce we attend Murray Bible Baptist Church in Pinjarra, Western Australia.

We homeschool our son using ACE kindergarten and love the way it honours God and our Bible.

Looking forward to being involved here with all of you.

Hi, my name is Kysha. My husband, Chris, and I are homeschooling for the first time this year after having our sons enrolled in private christian school for past couple of years. We love it and wouldn't go back to a school system again. They love it also and have stated the same. Our four sons are 15, 8 (twins), and 6. We are proud users of the
Bible-based ACE curriculum which our sons used in school. I am a part-time R.N. and my husband is a full-time paramedic. We belong to a wonderful diverse church where we assist teach in the children's ministry.

Hi,

My name is Anne and I have 2 dd's. 8yr old Lauren and 5 yr old Natalie. I've semi-retired from my career in the health field. Now, I am a SAHM and it consumes my life. Perhaps I'll go back when my kids are on their own.

I've been homeschooling for 3yrs now. Lauren is doing 4/5th grade curriculum (combo of Harcourt, ABeka, and Spectrum -anything available at the local bookstore). I teach violin/piano as well.

Natalie is going to PS kindergarten and I plan to HS her during 1st grade. I'm building up my courage.
She has Sensory Integration problems...skin, taste, speech, comprehension, behavior...all a challenge.

I'm not sure I can do it without help so I'm taking her to OT soon. Perhaps when I have some tools, I may be able to take on both.

Hi!! I am Nikki. I am a young mother of 3. I'm 21. I am married to the greatest guy ever. We started young due to sin in our lifes . But Christ came in and filled all voids and now we are happily married and ready to serve Him in any way we can. I have a 5 yo daughter (Shelby) who is currently in K ps, but next year will be homeschooled, a 3 yo boy (Sabre), and an 8 month old baby (Sami). I am not sure what approach i am going to be taking with this, and am pretty early on in my research of everything. But the Lord will lead. Excited to be here

Nikki
