I did my step/weight class and 1/2 of my weight work out. I am planning on doing the other other 1/2 of weights tonight after I run. I really try to do weights at least once a week for my whole body. Glad to hear that we are all doing well and sticking to our plans for exercise. I am also glad that I can miss a couple days because I am busy, but pick right up were I left off. :)

I thought about all the hours I have invested in exercise and the fact is, I'm not where I would like to be. OTOH, I picture me without the investent and it is an ugly pic indeed. Yesterday I did some neighborhood work and yard work and later did a run. I had a little tachycardia incident at the end of my run which has not happened in a long time(year or longer). The difference this time is once I sat down, it got into normal rhythm in a very short period of time which is unusual. I am more fit now than I was 20 years ago. I am wise enough to realize my limits and so my goal is to lose a few more pounds, continue to eat healthy, and continue to tweak my exercise routine.

Finally made it to the gym now that work is letting up a bit; first time in a week and a half. I'm trying to ignore the glances that say "is she going to go into labour while she's here?" LOL

Would you mind sharing a bit more about the tachycardia? Since I added the elliptical to my workouts, I've become more aware of my heart rate. The last time I was on the machine my heart rate was in the 160s+ and the machine kept telling me to slow down. Except if I slow down, I'm hardly moving. Even when my heart rate was that high I wasn't even out of breath, nor had I really broken a sweat. I'm trying to figure out if something is wrong or not.

I don't use those heart rate programs on the machine.. they are usually not intense. I try to do 70% to 85% of my max heart rate.. I use the Karnoven method. Heres a calculator.. as you get in better shape your resting heart rate will go down http://www.briancalkins.com/HeartRate.htm However tachycardia is abnormal heartbeat.. so discuss with your physician. If the machine was showing a steady bpm than you are probably fine.

I was just concerned that it sped up so fast on the elliptical. Granted, I've never given it a second thought until that stupid machine kept telling me to slow down, but I just thought I should look into it.

If you are in shape, then yes your heart rate will speed up and drop faster than someone who is not in shape. Those machines just program in the generic 220-age formula which doesn't work for people in above average shape..and is based on outdated science. You are in excellent physical shape because of all the swimming you do.

I just read the link you posted and it's awesome!!!! Thanks! I guess I don't have one foot in the grave after all. According to the calculator, I was only at 80% of my max heart rate. I really like the interval training that was laid out on the site, too. I'm totally going to try it. You're way too kind with the "excellent physical shape" comment. The chocolate chip cookies on my desk at the moment beg to differ!

I would stop exercising and eventually feel a little tinge and my heart would resume normal heart rhythm. It is not something to ignore. I drink a lot of coffee which is to me, worth the risk.

Kinda proud of myself for working out(At least for now. I sprained my back last night. Need a tempur-pedic bed or somethin' ). Got in a little over an hour of cardio/strength/abs. Here's hoping I don't regret the decision in the morning.

You will know if it is a tachycardia incident because the heart rate will go up over 220 beats a min. I had surgery for this, and it is so awesome now. I can exercise etc with it not happening. The weird thing is I still have the weird feeling (low blood pressue issues) but not the actual heart rate change at times. When I am running my heart rate gets up to 150-160's. I am not out of breath, but my heart rate can get up there. I think it is part of cardio.

I stairmastered this morning at the gym. I can really tell the difference between the stairmaster and the treadmill, whole different workout dynamic.

Thanks for sharing. The website is really helpful. This morning I did the interval training in the pool that I learned about from the site Miss Giggles posted. I loved it!! I think I can give up the torture on the elliptical and stay in the pool. The problem with my pool workouts is that I haven't been pushing myself. When I swim, I don't feel much different than if I'm just walking around. This morning I put on the fins and went for it. I'm too nervous to add any strokes because I'm prone to swimmer's shoulder, but the kicking was just the ticket. Silly me bought a watch specifically to time my laps and so far I've worn the thing everywhere except in the pool. Instead, I alternated 4 lengths hard, 4 lengths easy and varied up the kicks. After warming up, I did flutter streamlined, dolphin, flutter with my arms out to add some drag and finished up with flutter while using my arms to scull myself the opposite direction. That last one was hard!! I did a cool down before working on my breast stroke. That stroke is the bane of my existence, but I'm finally getting it. After the workout, I played around with some choreography. Other than being super sleepy 'cause I'm not used to the 4:30a alarm anymore, I feel great today. I can't wait for tomorrow morning.

My Mom died on Wed, so I have not gotten to the gym. I really want to, but there is so much to do. We had really nice weather yesterday, so I told my husband we must do something outside, if I don't go to the gym. So we went for a quick bike ride. It was just nice to be outside in the sun. I will be glad next week then the time changes, as we can do more after work. Tonight I have lots to do, and my mom's cousin is in town, as well as my brother with my neices, so I am just trying to keep the eating down. :) It is sad, but she was in a nursing home for 7 years and she hated the home. I really think my Mom was ready to go, as my nephew, who we raised, is a senior this year, and soon to be on his own. He won't need her any more. She was almost 78. It is crazy, weird, and I think it will hit me harder at different times.

I completed day 2 of couch to 5K today. Not nearly as grueling as day 1. However, I'm not sure whether I'll be able to start week 2 after one more week 1 workout...

Thanks everyone... The service was wonderful, and it was nice to see our relatives. My parents church is really taking care of my Dad, so it is good. My Dad told my Sister and Brother that he is leaving when the lease is up in July. So that is our new problem. What are they going to do? Grow up I guess. LOL! I did not get much workout last week. Thurs I made my hubby go bike riding with me. It was nice outside. Yeah! Tonight back to the gym. Can't get out of my program. I also ate horrible all weekend long, so I need to get back on plan.
