Can someone help or advise me? I have been attempting to contact a ministry for information and have been having some difficulty. How would I go about checking this ministry to see if they are a legtimate organization and have a good record? I believe there are a lot of questionable organizations out there. This ministry supposedly is involved with training people to fly to overseas missions to deliver supplies and possibly witness along the way at the various locations. I don't even know if I am posting these issues in the right place or not. Anyone?

Yes....they are called Missionare International. Now, there are a lot of different locations listed in google under the banner name of Missionare International so I am interested in finding out about this one in paticular: 661 Lyons Chapel Road suite B P.O. Box 335 Tompkinsville, Kentucky 42167 Run by a Jon and Lori Foote I sent away for information and I didn't receive any communication for a month. So I requested information again. They have a link on their website to request an informational packet. And I didn't receive any communication from them for another month. So today I called them and was only able to get an answering machine. Yes, I left my name and address requesting information again. My Pastor has some friends who go overseas on missions. As a matter of fact one of his friends just got back from Switzerland in January. He asked his friend about this organization and his friend told him he had never heard of them. So my Pastor called a mission organization in Denver (yes, I live in Colorado) and they said they never heard of them either. This is not looking good so far. But their website is at missionaire.org. I really would appreciate any assistance that you might be able to lend me. Thank you so much.

Hmmm... I presume you saw all their financial documents and such. I presume the non responsiveness is just that location. I work with JAARS and it is often hard to get a hold of anyone in the office or in e-mail for weeks or even months. Then there will be a fury of communications, then nothing again.

No, I haven't seen their financial documents. There is a link for that on their website. I guess I could look at that link to see what might be there, but I would like to get some endorsements from sources not connected to them so I might get an unbiased opinion. I will continue to try to contact them and I will continue to check other sources as they become available to me.

There are many, many orgs out in the world doing missions work, just because your pastor and his sphere of influence have never heard of this particular org doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist or are not above-board. Continue to try contacting them, but if they do not respond, gee, look elsewhere. The Moody Bible Institute trains bushpilots so why can't you contact them? Perhaps they can give you a directory of people that will respond to you. Matthew

Here is an organization that may be of help for you. I should have posted this last time, but it slipped my mind. The leader, Karl, heads this awesome ministry. http://mission111.com/ Matthew

Matthew...yes, this is what my Pastor told me as well concerning why the mission board he is affiliated with has never heard of the one I was attempting to find out about. He said something to the effect of "just because the mission board we are affiliated with has never heard of this mission in Kentucky just means that they are not affiliated with the same mission board. They might be a very upstanding mission but you might have to contact the mission board in that part of the country. The mission board we are affiliated with deals primarily in the west and the coastal portions(west coast) of the US. You might have to contact a midwest or southern area mission board. " He also cautioned me, "Just be cautious and make sure it is a genuine opportunity."

Also Matthew....yes, of course. I plan on continuing pursuing this mission in Kentucky as well as other missions. This is the position I am coming from just in case you were wondering. In 2004 I had contemplated overseas missions after about a year of praying and discussing this with my Pastor at that time. I said yes so went and got my passport. I was suppose to go to Ubekistan. I'm not sure if I am spelling this correctly. I was sure this is what the Lord would have me do. But then the trip was cancelled because there was some trouble over there at the time and they had tanks rolling in the streets. Because of the economy my life went into a freefall downward. I won't go into the details of my life but I went through a lot of personal troubles which concluded with me relocating to Colorado in 2007. Then, I thought...maybe this is not the Lord's leading at all. Maybe it's just your idea. If I thought this for a second I would not even attempt it at all. What would be the point really? So I put it on a back burner pretty much. But then as I do my Bible readings and studying certain verses keep popping out at me. Then, in the last six months these ideas keep coming back on pretty strong about being involved in the mission field. Again, much praying about these matters has taken place and repeated talks with the Pastor I have now. And I asked my Pastor many times to explain to me "If the Lord really wanted to get your attention or move you in a certain way how would He go about that or what shape would that take?" We had many talks and we exaimed many verses. And I talked to one of his friends who also is a Pastor of another church, and I pondered and I prayed and I have been going through this for a while. So now, I am at the point that yes...I am quite certain that this is what I am to do. In December I contacted this place in Kentucky. And I am just realizing that I have to go into something like this better prepared such as a certain amount of finances in store, finding people and or organizations who might be willing to sponsor me in this endeavor, I need to find out about housing and paid employment possibly whereever I might happen to be located, etc. I have many things to work on and be concerned about however I don't think discouragement will be one of them. I have also contacted my Aunt in Oregon about these matters. She is a retired missionary and so I think she knows a thing or two about these sort of things. And a guy I know has given me two pages of websites of aviation ministries and yes, Moody Aviation is one of them. I will just stay in prayer about these things and take one step at a time. Could I ask maybe if you could keep me in your prayers as well? I will be needing all the help I can get.

Most definately, we will be praying for you; for direction, focus, purpose, and the right fit for you. It is interesting you mentioned Moody...my nephew just graduated from Moody Bible Instutute in Washington, he will now be training in Seattle for his pilots license; he will be a bush pilot on the mission field. I am sure they can direct you to an org that will fit you just right. Matthew
